Heyyyy PASSers and PASSettes!

What’s good!?! How’s Spring Break? How were your winter quarter grades? 4.0 (Who gets that nowadays!!?!??) Dean’s List!? Honor Roll? Improvement? Survived?!? Well congratulations to those who hit their goals! As for those who didn’t hit their goals cheer up cause you’re in luck, it’s the season/quarter for redemption! For others it may the season for repeat, or if you’ve consistently awesome, finish strong for a threepeat (Hollaaaaa)!?!? A repeat/threepeat to continue your academic success! Possibilities are endless, so best of luck with your Spring Quarter Goals, may you succeed and not get DEANied. **Cough**Check out PASS’s Study Hours, Every Tuesday at the SOAR Center from 6-9pm, tutoring, stud!!**Cough**

Speaking of Spring Quarter Goals, an essential tool that will help you mark off and accomplish your goals is having a checklist and speaking of checklists, PASS’s 1st General Spring Quarter meeting is based on developing an academic checklist!!!! You definitely don’t want to miss out, it’s the beginning of many things we have in YOU for Spring Quarter (PAX, Counselor lead workshops, the com[pass]ion project, PASS/PUSO HSO One day, P-Grad). So suit up to your PASS T-shirts, re-adjust your alarm clock to 6:00PM, mark your calendars every Wednesdays, and bring a friend, because we’re back! So stay tuned for more updates! In the meantime, here’s an 8-track playlist that will hopefully lift your hearts and get you through the first day of your Spring Quarter ‘12, so (G)et (R)eady (I)t’s a (N)ew (D)ay. The theme for this playlist are current artist and beats that I feel bring an old school feel, vibe, and concept from the quality lyrics to that soulful beat. Music Monday

Good Morning, PASSers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy finals week! You know what that means, it’s ANOTHER DAY and another grind. Anywho, I just wanted to drop a few lines and a few words of wisdom because I just couldn’t help stop THINKING ABOUT YOU all or I guess what I’m trying to say is that I do miss you all. I hope finals are treating ya’ll well and nothing is getting too COMPLICATED. But if you do feel too distracted that your volition will UNDERTOW away from your goals, try isolating yourself, TURN YOUR LIGHTS DOWN LOW and take a breather, because you got this (that simple)! Also it doesn’t hurt to listen to some good music (Any music other than Drake, LMFAO, Katy Perry and dubstep) to help you zone in. Trust, I THOUGHT I WAS feeling pretty lackadaisical prior to finals, but music subtly got me back into that assiduous study groove. Currently I’m jiving to some blue eyed soul jams. Don’t worry, these songs aren’t emo heavy so it won’t sound like ANOTHER BREAK UP SONG. Check’em out! What do you have to lose? Well that’s pretty much all I have left to say. One more week and you won’t have to deal with finals for A LONG TIME. Good luck ya’ll!!!

The Playlist:

1) Jamie Lidell-Another Day -

2) Allen Stone- Another Break Up Song

3) Tori Kelly- Thinking About You

4) Robin Thicke-Complicated

5) Sara Bareilles-Undertow

6) Mayer Hawthorne- A Long Time

7) Colbie Caillat- Turn Your Lights Down Low (Live)

8) John West- Thought I was

10 things to do before you graduate from UC Irvine

Hellooo PASS! So next week is Week 10, aka the last official week of Spring Quarter and the school year. KAWAWA =[ . I hope all of you are planning to wrap up the quarter strong, whether it is spending time with those who are graduating soon, studying for finals, or doing something that you might have never done before! Which brings me to my topic for today’s blog (read title).

Yesterday, I happened to go on the UC Irvine Her-Campus website and read an article about 10 things to do before graduating from UCI. This inspired me to pass on the information to you guys, in case you didn’t check that article out. The 10 things I will mention will have some of the author’s opinion of what to do, but I will include things I think all of you, especially seniors, should do before leaving UC Irvine.

1. Write a Thank You letter to those people who have made your college experience a memorable one. Examples include your friends, professors, teacher assistants, your Resident Advisor, etc. They will all appreciate the time you took to write that letter :)

2. Take a nap at Aldrich Park. It’s such a beautiful park, especially on a blue-sky sunny day. Those afternoon breaks in-between classes are perfect times to fall asleep at Aldrich Park and to take a deep breather and de-stress whatever is on your mind (like graduation).

3. Go on an adventure around UCI! (especially when it is not busy); whether it is checking out the mysterious tunnels or going inside buildings like Donald Bren Hall and possibly going up the roof to see amazing views!

4. See Kobe Bryant at the ARC! I know the Lakers season is over, but there is always next year! :) Speaking of the ARC, for those of you who hardly go to the ARC, go to the ARC and make that $70 ARC fee that is part of your tuition fees worth it!

5. Go to a UCI sports game, play, and music concert! It doesn’t hurt to support our athletes, musicians, and actors/actresses. These events are mostly free, with free giveaways (athletic events), good music and good shows! The Vagina Monologues is a good example of a play to watch if you haven’t watched it already!

6. Make a college playlist. Gather all those songs that bring back memories, whether it is from freshman year of college to right now. You’ll have a playlist full of unforgettable college memories! It will bring people together, which means good times!

7. Visit your dorm. Whether it is Mesa Court or Middle Earth, stroll through the community that welcomed you and gave you your first memories at UCI. Eat at the dining commons and enjoy not having to cook anything. Who knows when you will be able to enjoy being in that community again?

8. Check out other organizations (This may be more towards those who are not graduating yet). Even though PASS is a great organization, it does not hurt to check out other organizations on campus that may be of interest to you. This means more networking and more opportunities to create friendships! It is good to be a well-rounded person, and joining an(other) organization(s) will help with that.

9. Spend time with friends who have made an impact in your life that you have not hung out with in a while. Yes, we all have those group of people we always take the time to eat or hang out with everyday, but how about those you just see once a week (i.e., at PASS) or once every quarter? Whether it is grabbing a cup of coffee or getting lunch at UTC, they will appreciate the time you took to catch up with them.

10. Say goodbye. Even though it is a simple thing to say, it gives closure to the people you have met through your college years, and gives closure to you as well. It might not even be as sad as you think, as those closest to you will stick with you! Even though you guys may go through different paths after college, saying goodbye does not necessarily mean forever.

Congratulations Class of 2011!

Your PASSAGE Counselor,

Poelene “Chair”
